The Portuguese under-19 futsal team thrashed their counterparts in Greece 6-0 today, in the second round of group 2 qualifying for the European Championship, after having made their debut with a 16-0 defeat of Cyprus.
Rafael Freire opened the way for the rout, in the 14th minute, and, in the space of one minute, in the 18th and 19th, Rúben Teixeira and Raul Moreira put the score at 3-0.
The Portuguese superiority was always evident and resulted in three more goals, in the 27th, 33rd and in the final moments, by Tiago Macedo, Sérgio Ribeiro and Lúcio Rocha.
Hours earlier, the Czech Republic beat Cyprus, 4-0, in the group round, and have four points, but Portugal is in the lead with six, while Greece has only one and Cyprus has yet to score.
The Portuguese team closes the group against the Czech Republic, on Sunday, from 7 pm, at the municipal sports pavilion in Vila do Conde.
Only the winners of the final group stage will be present on the 3rd and 3rd of September, in the Spanish city of Jaén.
