No appearances for Pfiffner and Gauer: Super-G canceled – Liechtenstein
SOLDEU – Marco Pfiffner and Nico Gauer did not play at the European Cup final in Soldeu (AND) on Friday. The men’s Super-G was canceled due to the weather conditions. Whether the departure will be delivered on Sunday is still open.
The European Cup final in Andorra is characterized by many cancellations. After the downhill and the women’s Super-G, the men’s Super-G has now also been canceled due to the warm temperatures and rain. As a result, Marco Pfiffner and Nico Gauer did not play and ended the European Cup season in the overall Super-G ranking in 26th place (Pfiffner) and 57th place (Gauer).
It is still unclear whether the departure scheduled for Sunday can take place. First of all, a training session would have to take place on Saturday. If the race goes ahead, there is a lot at stake for Marco Pfiffner. Before the last descent, the Unterländer ranks third in the overall ranking with 293 points behind the Swiss Ralph Weber (419) and Lars Rösti (353). This has to be defended, as it guarantees a permanent place in the World Cup in the coming season. LSV could then provide two starters and Pfiffner and Gauer would not have to go through an elimination for one place in training like this year. This would also pay off financially for the local ski association. Strong drivers like Josua Mettler (SUI), Cameron Alexander (CAN), Jeffrey Read (CAN) and Christoph Krenn (AUT) are still lurking behind Pfiffner. There is also tension. If the last EC descent on Sunday were canceled, Pfiffner would of course remain in third place.
