In the EAEU, the amount of duty-free parcels has been increased to 1,000 euros. In the meantime, without changes – 22 euros of Belarus
BelTA informs that the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to grant a limit of duty-free import of goods for individuals up to 1,000 euros for goods transported by a carrier or in postal items. This was announced at a briefing following the meeting by EEC official representative Iya Malkina.
“The limit has been increased on a temporary basis – until October 1, 2022, – said Iya Malkina. — If the value of the parcel exceeds this amount or its weight is more than 31 kg, it will be necessary to pay a share of 15% of the order value, but not less than 2 euros per 1 kg.
From January 1, 2020, the duty-free threshold for the importation of goods for personal use is 200 euros.
“This measure should help citizens who order goods for personal use in Latin American online stores, avoiding a shortage of goods,” – noted the representative of the EEC.
Belarus includes the EEC Council is Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko.
Belarus is also a member of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Added: as the press service of the State Customs Committee told the Onliner journalist, the former limits continue to operate for Belarus at present. One-time limits are still met: the cost of a parcel should not exceed 22 euros, and the weight should not exceed 10 kilograms.
Earlier we wrote that the limits on parcels are also increasing in Belarus. This is not true, we apologize for the inaccuracy.
Why do all countries still have different limits?
In the decision of the economic commission, as well as in the Customs Code, there is a clause: the countries participating in the EAEU (these are Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) can tighten the rules in their territories. You can make the limits even lower, but not more.
