«If I could return to Portugal in a year or two, to Benfica»
Portuguese footballer Bernardo Silva wishes to return to Portugal for the possibility of change in the near future, admitting a future or two years – without for Ben – that would consummate that change in the future.
«I’ll be honest, if I could go back to Portugal in a year or two, I’d come back. Yea [ndr: sempre para o Benfica]. Not only for the professional part, because I would like to play at Benfica one day, but because I miss my family, life in Portugal. I’ve lived abroad for years”, he said, many statements on Channel 11, excerpt from an interview released on Thursday night.
The 27-year-old winger has a contract with Manchester City until 2025. He has been in England since 2017 and, before City, played for Monaco for three seasons, from 2014 to 2017.
“I have to talk to the club, see what my options are. By the time my contract is about to end, I’ll know in the next few years if it’s renewed or not. If I leave for another side and, from there, I know when my last contract is and when my last contract abroad ends and when I am free, I can still go to Portugal», he said. “Of course I wish it wasn’t too late”, added the Portuguese international trained at Benfica.
