City of Salzburg – Danger: Entering the Salzach banks is currently prohibited due to river works!
From the state bridge to the power plant, heavy machinery is in use – Water Police Ordinance in force
Even if it hurts because of the currently good weather forecast: Walking on the banks of the Salzach and the gravel banks heaped up there has been officially forbidden from the Staatsbrücke to the Lehen power plant since midday on Friday, March 18, 2022.
The reason for this is the bed load relocation and removal that takes place in this area on behalf of Salzburg AG. Excavators, heavy dump trucks and large trucks are used here. The gravel banks are also often relocated. Although tempting, they are unfortunately not yet suitable as “city beaches”.
Therefore, the Office for Public Order of the City of Salzburg has published a water police ordinance with a ban on entry “to avoid endangering the life and health of people” and published it in the electronic Official Journal (see a link below).
The City of Salzburg and Salzburg AG are urgently seeking to be aware of the dangers and not to enter the aforementioned shore areas at the moment!
