“Penelope tired of war”, UDS show at the Titan
A reinterpretation of the classic myth for a reflection on contemporaneity, with a woman’s gaze on woman, victim of violence, victim of a masculine narrative of history, but also protagonist – like Penelope – in saying no to war.
“The show is a reflection on violence linked to war, on gender-based violence, on femicide – she explains Vanessa Muratoriauthor of the text – but also an eye on the current affairs of San Marino, for example on why the law on current affairs came so late voluntary termination of pregnancy“.
Promoted by Union of San Marino Womendirected by Ute Zimmermanin collaboration with the Social Center of Fiorentino and with the patronage of the Culture Secretariat, “Penelope tired of the war” brings 9 women to the stage, in a show designed specifically for International Women’s Day. Then came the war, to update the theme:
“Penelope is tired of war because war brings destruction and wounds her family. War always has a rhetorical apparatus that Penelope disputes. The woman – observes Vanessa Muratori, precisely with respect to the current conflict – she does not want war, there is really an incompatibility between woman and war “.
