Nasrene lands in Sweden | Alberton Record
Nasrene, a pop musician from southern Johannesburg, is making big waves in the music scene after the release of her latest single Little Things.
This young star also moved to Sweden where she will study for her master’s degree in public health at the University of Gothenburg for two years.
KRONIKAN caught up with her to find out how her time in Sweden has been and what she has been doing.
Nasrene had to adapt to the cold weather and the fact that English is not a language that everyone in the country speaks.
Sweden is also a country that is closely associated with pop music with famous singers and groups such as ABBA, Zara Larsson and Ace of Base.
– It is a privilege to be in Sweden. The country has a long history when it comes to pop music. This also gives me an opportunity to work with very talented musicians. I still want to visit the ABBA Museum in Stockholm, says Nasrene.
In her short time in Sweden, Nasrene has released a new single called Little Things with BMG writer and producer David Westmeijer who wrote the song for her.
The latest single was well received on music streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple Music, and the song is added to many playlists on the sites.
She said she likes to hear people get touched by her songs.
Her favorite thing to do when she is not going to lessons or writing music is to take a walk in nature.
“I love to walk in nature. There are frozen lakes I walk next to, and this helps me get inspiration for my music. Here you do not have to spend a lot of money to spend time in nature,” said Nasrene.
Nasrene said that she misses her family and friends but focuses on what she is in Sweden to do.
An album is not yet on the books for the young artist but she is writing some singles.
In addition to singing, Nasrene also helps produce singles for other young artists.
She produced and co-wrote Joburg artist Sloani’s first studio single called Keep in Touch.
The sky is the limit for Nasrene and it does not look like she will stop reaching new heights anytime soon.
