In the courses, the students work on various aspects of the topic of food waste: They learn how to store certain products correctly and how to deal with recipes that leave about half an onion or other fresh food left over. They get tips on how to use products that would otherwise soon go to waste. And they learn what our eating habits have to do with climate change.

Leb Bunt eV
The aim of the non-profit initiative “Leb Bunt eV” is to bring seniors and immigrants together. The latter can thus learn German more quickly. The participants in the program used to meet for cultural afternoons, walks and quiz evenings – but then the pandemic intervened.
The association had the idea of establishing pen pals. So that the writers have a lot to say to each other, all participants first name their interests, training and professions. Then Lisi brings Brizuela from “Live colorful“The right people together.
The initiative has already brought more than a hundred people into contact with each other with the “colorful letters”, most of whom come from Munich and the surrounding area. But people from Berlin and Cologne have also signed up.
In order to be able to continue the project, the association has given up donations. Costs arise not only for the administration and promotion of the project, but also for paper, envelopes, stamps and postcards. “Bunte Briefe” makes all this available to the participants. All seniors and immigrants should be able to take part, including those from the region who otherwise could not afford pen pals for financial reasons.
