As we know, Bernard Magrez is a fan of contemporary art. Its collection extends to more than 500 works by national and international artists, listed or emerging experts. The idea for this new exhibition of the Château Labottière, presented until October 02, was to make a career of the most remarkable. A journey, sometimes sensitive and eclectic, which works on impressions, sensations. Almost sensory finally. In total, less 10 rooms of the castle are occupied, by theme.
80 works, 10 rooms, 10 atmospheres
It is a sublime row of 80 sculptures, photographs, paintings… in 10 different worldswho invites the public to immerse themselves in an atmosphere marked by transversality styles. Faithful to its positioning, the Bernard Magrez Institute still makes a nice choice of plurality as regards the artists exhibited. In the entrance hall of the Château, the exhibition begins with 2 monumental works by JR, two moving portrait-collages, aka the most influential artist of the moment followed by more than a million people on the networks. Nice introduction.
Then comes the turn of the library where a certain spirit of warm places reigns. Ideal atmosphere to exhibit, almost with melancholy, the very first work acquired by Bernard Magrez signed Buffet. A pretty still life of Château Pape-Clément. The third room is practically plunged into darkness with a choice of icy works lit with a knife for a cold and nocturnal environment. As for the other 6 rooms in the castle? One is dedicated to the greatest female muses, the other to the history of urban art, without forgetting that devoted to spirituality, travel, music or, in a more committed way, to activist photo-reports in black and white.
Plurality, emotions, truth, chills
During this synesthetic journey, the spectator rubs shoulders with works of Philippe Cogne, Jean-Michel Othoniel, JR, Salgado,Futura 2000, Yan Pei-Ming, Martial Raysse, Steve McCurry, Obey. The exhibition does merge the tetechniques, styles and currents to create a unique object, an unprecedented meeting. Attention to detail is skilfully respected. For the little anecdote, Aurelien Desailloud tells us that in the dark room where the photographs are illuminated, it took 1 hour to install a projector. However, the installation would require 80… Putting your heart into the work then takes on its full meaning.
A national artistic creation competition
In the Pavillon de la Boétie, which juxtaposes the Château, an exhibition continues around the Bernard Magrez’s favorite mantra “Never give up”. Inasmuch as patron who helps in the creation, the winery owner A commander to artists confirmed or in the making (videos, photos, sculptures, paintings and installations) created on the theme of “Never Give-Up”. The Red Street Artists, Charles Fous–sard or JonOne rub shoulders with visual artists like Renaud Chambon, photographers like David Siodos or painters like Guillaume Toumanian. What if you too have thought of the game? UN artistic creation contest, open to all, invites you to create a square work of 1mx1m that will find its place among other renowned artists. The objective: to illustrate your way of never giving up.
