At the center of the work is the work plan and the initiatives that will be implemented in 2022/23 by CDADI
As part of the Italian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the members, participants and observers of the Steering Committee on Combating Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion – CDADI, met from 15 to 17 March in Rome to hold an important coordination meeting. The promotion of equality, the fight against vulnerability and the protection of groups were the themes at the center of the work, in what was the fifth meeting of the committee since its creation.
The Republic of San Marino was also present, representing the Secretariat of State for Health and Social Security. Dr. Arianna Scarpellini, Director of the Elementary Schools and coordinator of the Tecum project, an active application in the San Marino area for the fight against gender-based violence, thus discussed with the other delegates the work plan 2022/23 of the CDADI, aimed at to guide the work of the committees of experts on Roma and Travelers issues, on hate crimes and on the intercultural integration of migrants in an environment of dramatic change.
This event marked the beginning of the second two-year period of activity of the Committee, which in the full performance of its functions elaborated innovative legislative texts aimed at promoting global strategies against hatred, a distant respect for gender equality and to implement policies and multi-level governance for cultural integration.
The working table coordinated by the CDADI President Triantafillos Loukarelis, was enriched today with high-profile interventions, such as that of the Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family of the Italian Republic Elena Bonetti, the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Bjørn Berge, the Vice-president of the Extraordinary Commission of the Senate for the fight against the phenomena of intolerance, racism, anti-Semitism and incitement to hatred and violence Francesco Verducci.
Among the participants in the event also the President of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), Maria Daniella Marouda.
