Zlatan Ibrahimovic called for Sweden’s World Cup finals
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the list of players that Sweden has called in to play in its World Cup finals at the end of the month, it has been confirmed.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sweden published the list of players called to play in the playoffs and it is perhaps no surprise to see Ibrahimovic among the names given that he has returned to the fold in recent months.
Janne Andersson, the Sweden coach, has clearly decided to rely on the 40-year-old’s experience in the event that Sweden would beat the Czech Republic and make it to what would be a playoff final against Poland.
Due to the yellow card he received in the last match against Spain, Ibrahimovic will not be able to play the semi-final where Sweden meets the Czech Republic. However, he will be available for a potential final.
At his call, Andersson said (via MilanNews): “He struggled with some injuries but he will return. First of all, I do not see him as a starting player in 90 minutes, but in our conversations it was very clear that Zlatan wants to be part of this team. With his best qualities on the field and routine leadership qualities and off-field leadership qualities, he will help the team. ”
