Sweden’s midsummer signs new sunroof agreement in Italy
March 16 (Renewables Now) – The Swedish thin film solar energy specialist Midsummer AB (STO: MIDS) said that they have signed a five-year agreement to sell up to 6.5 MW of their CIGS modules per year to the Italian roofing company PugliAsfalti.
PugliAsfalti agreed to pay for the order 11.7 million euros (12.9 million USD) annually during the term of the contract, and offer Midsummer’s solar panels to its existing and new customers, mainly in southern Italy, said the Swedish manufacturer.
The agreement will also mean that the Italian company will sell 30,000 square meters of its thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-layer roofing membrane per year to Midsummer, which will pay 100 euros per square meter.
These quantities are not binding on either party and prices may vary under certain conditions, said Midsummer
PugliAsfalti specializes in medium-sized roof installations and also installs solar cell systems (PV) that are architecturally integrated in the roofs. It has become the third Italian roofing company within a few months to sign a CIGS modules-for-roofing material agreement with Midsummer.
Midsummer, which is preparing to open a CIGS photovoltaic plant in Bari, Italy, has previously signed similar agreements with sheet metal manufacturers Medacciai and Unimetal.
