Nurses focus this Wednesday in Lisbon to solve “problem that has dragged on for a long time”
The nurses of the Sindicato dos Enfermeiros Portugueses (SEP) will focus this Wednesday, March 16, in front of the prime minister’s official residence, in Lisbon.
They require the counting of points for the purpose of career progression, as well as the opening of competitions for the categories of Specialist Nurse and Immediate Nurse.
“The counting of points for the purpose of nurses’ progression is a problem that drags on without any justification”, says the SEP, in a note published on its official website.
The union stresses that “the minister, António Costa, announced his decision of perversity in the first term of the presentation of the state budget for 2022 and reiterated this position in various periods of the electoral campaign”.
“We understand that it is possible to provide services according to health institutions that have a sense of point and defend totals”
In the same way, he adds, “the immediate opening of competitions for access to the stages of Specialist Nurse and Nurse Manager, are crucial to minimize the continuation of nurses leaving the SNS”.
“Failure to do so is to enhance the expansion of the SNS offer and, consequently, not defend it”, he concludes.
Multinews tried to contact the SEP for further clarification, but we were unable to obtain a response. However, the coordinator of the regional direction of Lisbon, Isabel Barbosa, had already explained to our website, in January, on her website.
“Assuming the insurance obligation, which today is considered a point for them to be taken to the concentration in Lisbon.
“Nurses, then, were points in the first position of the career salary grid (the lowest), between 20 and 2013. until 2013 these years of service were eliminated”, explained the official at the time.
In addition, “individual employment contracts are not considered for the purposes of progression and we have just had nurses with a 1.0-year career in the remunerative position, that is, earning the same as a nurse who must leave school”, he lamented.
“There are also specialist nurses who had the same points eliminated for the purposes of progress, when they moved to that category, according to Isabel Bar, they had the same transit of points for the purposes of progress (they are also transferred to that category, according to Isabel)”, “there are also transitions to this category, according to Isabel Bar it happened.
Lastly, the last ones have been made progress, but it is the surplus, that is, the more years of service that have been eliminated and those that have been advanced are highly impaired”.
