Negotiations between UPM and the Paper Association continue
(UPM, Helsinki, March 16, 2022 at 2:00 pm) – Negotiations between UPM’s companies and the Paper Association on new collective agreements have continued intensively. The union today announced the extension of the strike for two weeks at most of UPM’s Finnish mills until 16 April 2022, unless new collective agreements are reached before then. The paper union’s strike in the Finnish units of UPM Pulp, UPM Biofuels, UPM Communication Papers, UPM Specialty Papers and UPM Raflatac began on 1 January 2022. At present, the factories employ about 200 union members in tasks that are critical to society, such as power plants. and water treatment plants.
“In recent weeks, the parties have been negotiating primarily in face-to-face negotiations. Despite intense negotiations, no agreements have been reached. That is why UPM Pulp’s negotiations are now continuing in the formal conciliation process, ”he says Jyrki HollménUPM’s Vice President, Labor Market.
Where possible, UPM serves its customers from outside its mills in Finland. At this stage, UPM does not publish estimates of the financial impact of the strikes.
