Bacon’s buzzer-beater saves Monaco against Strasbourg in overtime thriller / News
AS Monaco (16-7) needed a big three-point shot from Dwayne Bacon to beat 105-103 (21-21, 20-27, 27-23, 21-18, 16-14) SIG Strasbourg (13-10).
In the previous game, DeAndre Lansdowne had made it 103-102 for the visitors with just one second remaining on the game clock. But Bacon had the last laugh, as Monaco snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Strasbourg had the upper hand in the game for the most part, but the hosts bounced back in the fourth quarter and Mike James tied at 89 apiece at the end of regulation.
After this result, Monaco moved even closer to LNB leaders Boulogne Metropolitans (17-6), while Strasbourg fell to seventh place in the standings.
Bacon finished with 24 points, leading all game scorers, while Alpha Diallo added 18 and Mike James added 17 for Sasa Obradovic’s side who are still in the running for the EuroLeague qualifiers (11-13 ).
On the other hand, Strasbourg had several chances to clinch their second victory of the season against Monaco, but missed in the last second. Matt Mitchell scored 20 points, while Ike Udanoh, Gaylor Curier, DeAndre Lansdowne and Kameron Taylor also scored in double figures.
