On Monday, March 14, a delegation from the Kingdom of Sweden, led by Ambassador Fredrik Florn, Head of the Consular Affairs and Civil Law Department, and his deputy, Mrs Christine Hedenberg, arrived at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Qamishlo.
He was received by the Co-Chair of the External Relations Department, Abdul Karim Omar, Shewaz Khalil, Head of the European Department, and Lana Hussein, Head of the YPJ’s Relations Office.
The two sides discussed the current situation in the region, in northern and eastern Syria in particular, and the economic and humanitarian situation in general.
During the meeting, the department’s co-chair, Abdul Karim Omar, said: “The latest ISIS attack on Hasaka prison has caused dozens of martyrs from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), prison workers and some civilians. The operation was large and complex, and preparations were made for it. For months, intelligence agencies outside the borders, especially Turkey, have been striving to spread chaos, merge parts of the region and destabilize the region, thus reviving ISIS and taking control of Hasaka and other areas.
Abdul Karim Omar indicated, according to the Department of Foreign Relations website, that “the international community must take its responsibility, by providing political, economic, relief and security support to the autonomous territories”, explaining: “The importance of rehabilitating those communities which remained under the rule of the Islamic State (ISIS) for years. To block the path of ISIS to enter these areas and reorganize them. “
For his part, Ambassador Frederick said: “We want to once again express our appreciation for the sacrifices made by the autonomous administration and the people here. We have discussed important issues in security and humanitarian aspects and ways to fight terrorism in northern and eastern Syria. , and we reaffirm our continued support for the autonomous administration in its fight against terrorism. ”
At the end of the meeting, two women and their two children from the families were handed over to ISIS mercenaries, according to an official handover document between the autonomous administration in northern and eastern Syria and the Kingdom of Sweden.
