Sahara dust: the sky of Marseille could be yellow-orange all week | News
The Sahel invites itself into our memories! Météo France had announced an episode of desert dust over France and more particularly the south-eastern part of France, from this Tuesday, March 15. Thing promised, thing due: the Marseillais were able to attend a quite a rare sight on this Tuesday morning. Sky draped in an orange veil, cars tinted brown sand residue… But what is it?
We reassure you right away: the end of the world is not yet for tomorrow! This incredible yellow color which diffuses in the sky is due to a strong southerly flow who agreed between Monday and Tuesday in Bordeaux, giving spring temperatures but also a significant concentration of Saharan dust. We must also expect sandy rain this Tuesday morning in Marseille (there will be a queue at the car wash stations…).
The phenomenon should cross France from Tuesday to Friday. However, if you missed the show, see you tomorrow morning at dawn!
Desert dust episode in sight!
Notable concentrations will be transported by a southerly flow and travel across France in the coming days.
