Number of licensed buildings in Portugal increases by 9% in 2021
In 2021, 25.1 thousand buildings were licensed in Portugal and 15.2 thousand were completed. In all, there are 8.9% and 4.1% more, respectively, compared to the previous year, indicated this Tuesday, March 15, the National Statistics Institute (INE).
In the previous year, licensed and completed buildings fell by 4.3% and increased by 3.8%, in the same order, according to INE in a statement.
Compared to 2019, the increase was 4.2% in licensed buildings and 8% in built, detached buildings.
Licensed buildings, in turn, decreased by 4.7% in the fourth quarter of last year, to 5.6 thousand, compared to the same period in the previous year, according to INE.
In the third quarter of last year, licensed buildings recorded an increase of 2.2%, while in the fourth quarter of last year the fall was 6% compared to the same quarter of 2019.
As for licensed buildings in new construction, INE reports that they fell by 0.5%, after having grown by 5.4% in the third quarter of last year and recording a zero quarter compared to the fourth quarter of 2019.
The quarter referred the study to the fourth quarter.
The completed buildings showed a growth of 2% (+5.5% in the third quarter of 2021) and increased by 3.8% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, totaling 3.9 thousand buildings.
Compared to the previous quarter, the number of licensed buildings decreased by 8.9% (-8.5% in the third quarter of last year) and the number of completed buildings increased by 1.3% (+4.1% in the third quarter 2021) ), INE salience.
