Consumer climate drops in February in Europe, but Portugal registers rises
The consumer climate in Europe dropped to 11.5 percentage points (pp) in February from the 13.7 pp recorded in the previous month, according to data from GfK Portugal. In the same growing direction, salary expectations and willingness to buy a product or service also showed negative variations in January 2022.

As for economic expectations, the GfK data show that they varied by another four points compared to January, with the Czech Republic, Portugal and Austria registering the biggest increases, above ten points. Germany and Italy are the countries with the best economic expectations.
The February expectations indicator dropped three points, in. Hungary assumes the best salary expectations and Portugal five points compared to the previous month, currently presenting a positive indicator of seven points.
The propensity to buy also a two-point loss. Greece, Latvia and Hungary recorded the biggest rises, with Hungary and Italy leading the list of countries with a propensity to buy. Despite having risen five points in this indicator, Portugal does not maintain its predisposition to buy.
