Arrival center for refugees in Innsbruck
Around 350 people from the Ukraine are currently accommodated in Tyrol.
An arrival center for refugees from the Ukraine was set up in the Innsbruck house Marillac at Sennstraße 3. This is where registration, a health check and the distribution of accommodation take place. Around 350 people are currently housed in Tyrol, the state of Tyrol reported on Monday. 540 people have been registered so far, but some have traveled to neighboring countries.
“Even people who already have accommodation should definitely contact the arrival center for a health check and registration after arriving in Tyrol,” said Bernd Noggler from the country’s special staff Ukraine. “Registration is important in order to get an overview of all people who have entered the country, to have contact options and to know where family members may be. This is also important in order to be able to process other possible social benefits,” Noggler clarified.
There is currently only one such center in Innsbruck, but more are planned, including in East Tyrol. All registration points will soon be available on the Ministry of the Interior’s website, it said. A Ukrainian-language signage system was also set up at Innsbruck’s main train station and an information sheet was published for those affected.
People who want to make donations in kind should do so on the next two Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Merk fire brigade. The donations are then distributed. The country is calling for donations in kind not to be brought directly to the Marillac house, but to the fire brigades. People who want to provide accommodation can do so via the registration office [email protected]. Around 550 private individuals have registered so far. According to Noggler, “solidarity, cohesion and helpfulness” are “enormous” in Tyrol.
