Just missed the Swiss final – Liechtenstein
FRAUENFELD – The U12 boys team of the LLV (Liechtenstein Athletics Association) did well again at the regional elimination for the UBS Kids Cup team competition.
Hurdle relay, vault, challenge biathlon and team cross: These are the disciplines in the coveted Swiss Athletics UBS Kids Team competition. The way to the Swiss final leads through the winter via local and regional eliminations. Two teams, put together from the training groups of TV Schaan, TV Triesen and TV Eschen-Mauren, cleared the first hurdle and were therefore able to compete against the other top teams in the Eastern Switzerland local competitions in Frauenfeld at the weekend.

The starting position seemed to be open for both the girls and the boys. The U14 girls’ team started first thing in the morning. The motivated girls were able to keep up very well, especially in the jump challenge. In the other disciplines, unfortunately, there was still a little bit to keep up with the strong teams from all over Eastern Switzerland. With ninth place, they were still able to achieve a nice respectable success.
Things went a lot better for the U12 boys. This was despite the fact that not everyone was able to compete in top form. With very good performances, the team showed a compact competition across all active disciplines. Ultimately, third place looked out, with a single ranking point going to the winning team. It wasn’t quite enough this time, but the boys show that they are to be reckoned with.
