Ex-ICEHL legionnaires rock the Slovakian league – Hockey-News.info
Again and again players move from Slovakia to Austria or away from the ICEHL to the Extraliga. This year, however, it is particularly striking that many ex-ICEHL legionnaires can be found at the top of the points rankings in the Slovakian league.
The ex-Salzburger makes the start Brant Harris, who scored an excellent 59 points after 49 games. He scored 21 goals himself and prepared a further 38 goals. With this number of points, he is also second in the overall league standings. Harris played for Salzburg from 2017-2019 and is also one of the top players there.
Close behind Harris follows William Rapuzzi, with 56 points (25 goals and 31 assists). The 32-year-old American stormed the last two seasons in Dornbirn and played particularly well last year.
Both for Dornbirn, but also for Innsbruck and Fehervar, as well as HC Bozen ran Andrew Yogan on. The striker moved to HC Slovan Bratislava in the summer and made an impact there immediately. After 48 games, he has 20 goals and 32 assists.
Ex-Graz Legionnaire is also in the top 10 of the scorer rating Tony Cameranesi. Last season in Graz he scored 40 points, this year he is playing for Dukla Machelovce and already has 16 goals and 30 assists.
with Jamie Arniel, James Livingston and Alan McPherson there are three other players with an ICEHL past in the top 20 of the scorer rating.
But well-known names can also be found in the goalie rating. Marcel Melichercik guarded the goal of HCB Südtirol for two seasons and has played well for HK Spisska Nova Ves for more than two years now. This year, after 38 appearances, he has a catch rate of 93.8% and a goal-against average of 2.21.
with Dan Bakala an ex-VSV legionnaire is also currently playing in Slovakia. In 2018/19 he was the first goalie for the Villacher Adler and has been under contract with HC Nove Zamky since this year. His stats: 31 games, 91.7% catch rate and a 3.03 goals-against average.
