a night chase over nearly 15km
He took crazy risks. Drive at full speed on country roads and then on the fast lane. Thus putting his life at risk, that of other users he may have met or overtaken and those of the gendarmes mobilized to arrest him.
A harrow thrown on the pavement
It is nearly 2 a.m. on March 12. This crazy car race starts in Sarrians. Soldiers from the surveillance and intervention platoon of the gendarmerie (Psig) of Carpentras are in place and decide to control a motorist who arrives in front of them. But, as is often the case, the individual refuses to stop. It’s the beginning of a hunt driven at full speed, while keeping a good distance in order to avoid an accident. The motorist goes back to the expressway and takes the direction of Avignon.
What he does not know is that the gendarmes behind his back are in direct contact with their counterparts at Psig d’Avignon. The latter move into position and trap the driver. A harrow placed on the road puts an end to the pursuit.
This 29-year-old Carpentrassien was placed in police custody. He was driving without a license and without insurance.
