Vedum: Norway will not get richer from the war in Ukraine
The case is being updated.
Vedum points out that the oil fund has shrunk by NOK 1,000 billion since the turn of the year. And persistent war and unrest in the markets can result in greater losses. The Norwegian economy has not benefited from war, according to Vedum.
– Yes, we get higher oil revenues, but the oil fund has lost more than the income has increased, Vedum says to Aftenposten.
In the interview with Aftenposten, Vedum goes a long way in promising that ordinary people will get along well despite turbulent times.
– All analyzes we base our work on next year’s state budget show increased purchasing power. But these are turbulent times, says Vedum.
He says it is quite natural that the government now turns on taxes and fees so that people with ordinary incomes mark it on their wallets.
– When we look at the tax and duty plan in the future, people with low and medium incomes in Norway will have better purchasing power. That is the goal. Things can happen. But if you look at the four-year period over one, that is the whole goal.
