Benfica Foundation helps in the integration of four Ukrainian children in Portugal – Benfica
The Benfica Foundation, chaired by Carlos Móia, will help the integration of four Ukrainian children in Portugal, who were enrolled in the schools of the reds in this country who are at war after the invasion of Russia.
Oleskii, seven, Myron, eight, Nikita, 12, and Illia, 13, are the four boys, all from Kiev, that the Benfica Foundation will help during the next year and, as a result of being students at the Escola do Benfica in Kiev, will be received by the schools of the reds in their respective areas of residence (Mortágua, Lisbon and Sagres).
The announcement was made this Friday and was attended by the president of Benfica, Rui Costa, from whom he received a kit consisting of, among others, school supplies, tennis, a mobile phone and merchandising items, scarves, a hat and a ball. .
I fled in Ukraine, four children, just like the same ones, daughters of mothers, who sometimes live with Rui Costa until Illia, Myron’s brother, took the ball and started to touch it. Surprised, Rui Costa, in a relaxed tone, took his arm and directed him to the table and said: I want him here [no Benfica]. As if to sign a contract.
There was a general smile, not before, also with Carlos Moía, having taken photographs with these children for posterity.
Integrated in Portugal, also with the contribution of the Portuguese State, Benfica guarantees adaptation to the country and in the schools of the Reds. According to the executive president of Fundação Benfica, these children will also receive monthly support for a year.
“These are the first four children who are already in Portugal with their mothers. They played at school in Kiev. They will be able to enroll in Benfica’s schools and they are open to all modalities. Not only football”, he said.

“There are people in Benfica with the capacity to help as families. We know that there is a person who is looking for a house. We will give advice on the most appropriate places to live. We are always open to helping even the families we are stabilized. I can say that none they (from the newly arrived families and helped by the Benfica Foundation) are at a standstill. They are already looking for work”, he confided, also thanking the “great help” and the contributor of the SIC Esperança Foundation in this process.
For now there are four, but, according to Carlos Móia, they can arrive at three.
“We think we will get close to 30. As the children are arriving and being part of the list of Benfica athletes, who are written at this time in Kharkiv and Kiev, they will be helped guaranteed”, he said.
