Ukraine. University of Lisbon promotes four solidarity concerts
“ÇCommitted to the values of Peace, European Democracy, the Rule of Law, Human Rights and Freedom, the University of Lisbon expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainian people and promotes a series of four solidarity concerts”, reads in the information from the higher education institution, released today.
All revenue raised in concert campaigns will revert in full to “Cáritas Ajuda Ukraine”, to strengthen the response capacity in Ukraine, in bordering countries and in Portugal.
The first concert will be a load of the Soloists and Orchestra of the Opera in the Academy and in the City, directed by José Ferreira Lobo, and features works by Mozart, Rossini and Otto Nicolai.
The second concert, “Not everything is a lie or the truth of the songs”, is scheduled for April 1st, also at the Aula Magna, and will feature the musician Laurent Filipe and, as his guest, the Brazilian musician Felipe Fontenelle, in addition to Mário Delgado, Rodrigo Gonçalves, Alexandre Frazão and Máximo Cavalli.
Next, on April 3, and also in the Aula Magna, is the concert “Ritual de Fogo”, by the Academic Orchestra of the University of Lisbon, which “starts from the adventure into the unknown, faces challenges and conflicts and comes to an end in a transformation that leads to the ‘state of grace'”, describe the organizers. Works by composers such as Mendelssohn, Mussorgsky and Falla will be performed.
The concert cycle ends on April 5th, with the “Spring Concert”, a show at Igreja da Graça, performed by the University of Lisbon Choir, with the participation of the Lisbon University Chamber Choir, and direction of the maestros. Eduardo Martins and Luis Almeida.
This concert features a choral program of sacred music, with texts alluding to human commiseration, by various composers, with a special focus on the Romantic period.
The first and last concerts are free admission, with funds being collected by Cáritas Portuguesa.
For the other two concerts, tickets are on sale on ticketline, at prices ranging from 10 to 20 euros.
All revenue raised goes to the “Caritas Help Ukraine” campaign.
