“Shouldn’t overrate the win against Salzburg”
After the gala appearance against FC Salzburg, the confidence in the Bayern team is high again. TV expert Dietmar Hamann, on the other hand, steps on the euphoria brake. In his “Sky” column, Hamann calls for caution and advises FCB not to overestimate their own performance.
FC Bayern has every reason to be happy. After the resounding victory against FC Salzburg, they are not only in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but above all they have regained the self-confidence of the past few days. Didi Hamann has also noticed the enormous increase in FC Bayern’s performance. After the sporting roller coaster ride of the last few weeks, this liberation would do the former professional good: “Against this fast, aggressive team you first have to score seven goals, as Bayern did and thus demonstrated a class difference,” said Hamann. Hamann also calls for caution when dealing with the result.
“Impressive message sent to Manchester, Liverpool or Madrid”
“Bayern should not overestimate this result against this ultimately overwhelmed opponent from Salzburg,” says Hamann in his “Sky” column. Nevertheless, Bayern “sent an impressive message to Manchester, Liverpool or Madrid”. The victory had a “double effect”. In addition to the declaration of war on the competition, the victory is “the best recipe against recent self-doubt, it was extremely important for FCB’s self-image”.
Return of New War of the Keys
Hamann grants Manuel Neuer a special role. The German national keeper gave the back team confidence and stability: “Manuel Neuer makes the difference: He promotes internal trust because colleagues know that they can rely on him in tricky situations,” wrote the 48-year-old: “It likes it seem paradoxical, because as a goalkeeper he didn’t directly influence the seven goals, but the statistical and factual dominance of Munich is based on Neuer.”
Worse was averted with the win against FC Salzburg. The Bundesliga title alone is not enough for FC Bayern to be able to attribute the title “successful” to the season. And that’s not all. For Hamann, the game was “possibly significant (game) this season because an exit would have called the coach, the team and the entire club strategy into question”.
