Pedro Teixeira rumored to go to Poland and returned to Portugal with a refugee
FORedro Teixeira decided to travel to Poland to help refugees from the war in Ukraine, faced with an invasion. An experience that led the actor and presenter to share his testimony on CNN Portugal.
“My idea of birth was born from the moment we helped, every day, we are bombarded with these war news. Every day we see mothers with children, in the cold”, he began by saying, reporting on the opportunity he had to able to help closely.
“And the days without work, luckily I have the possibility, sometimes, that they help me quickly to bring some medicines, everything that people have the help they need. and would do with, a friend of mine, we hit the road and we went to do whatever in my opinion“, contour.
“I am aware that I am privileged and that I have this opportunity, fortunately, I have, and it activates for each other to get a big van and fill it with medicines, and to be able to have the availability to make this trip, do all those kilometers, because I had that possibility”, he stressed.
“Being at home, seeing these things happening and not doing something that would, in my opinion, make perfect sense, which was getting there and delivering things directly to those who needed them, that’s what moved me,” he added.
“It’s 30 hours of travel, it’s nothing for us. […] All this wave of solidarity that went to those close to us has a lot to do with the fact that people are very us. And energy mothers that we see with children at negative temperatures, it could be my girlfriend, my children… And this is something that moves us and that automatically gives us an extra to do whatever it takes to help those people”continuous.
“Right now, people are living in a very difficult situation. Some are seven or eight kilometers to reach the Ukrainian-Polish border. Then, being waiting all that time and doing that whole walk. […] What more mothers are the small vans that they had with sirens that are transformed into places in small children like children who went to that foot, to fetch and like me, the children, the grandparents… In the where, from minute to minute a van full”,
“It is very sad to realize that people even a fate behind, do not know what is going to happen. These are people who arrive completely scared, without a noise, and something has to be done. It is necessary to help. I had no idea. It was a big deal to get there and notice that reality.“, he confessed, also stating that “all people have value in the way they help”, referring to people who “are here in the associations and who make the sandwiches for the refugees who are returning, the people who unite and go in a van to fetch”. “All kinds of help is needed and necessary”.
Pedro Teixeira also outlined that he ended up bringing a person who was in Poland and who came to Portugal to be with his family.criticizes the poor organization in the transport of refugees.
“There is a big flaw that is happening right now, the Government can reach all the conditions that are immense for the integration of immigrants, as these people can easily. […] This is cause-revolt on television, we are not always saying that we have nothing here, because, in fact, in practice, people do not help to do anything.“, explaining, referring that there should be an entity responsible for “dealing with the issue”, giving the example of the Task Force’s work campaign.
“Every day the situation gets worse and it’s time to find a government organization that really takes these associations and organizes them. […] Even because, it can’t be a person like me arriving and taking a person. Suddenly, I bring a person from the refugee center. It is possible. It happened! I just brought a person who will stay here with the family. But imagine that I didn’t want to bring it and that I wanted to do something else, and that I stole his passport… These things happen. And it is precisely because there is no proper organization that these things happen”, he stressed.
