Portugal loses to Spain in the preparation for the European under-19 futsal
The two teams will face each other again on Wednesday, from 18:00, in the second preparation game
The Portuguese under-19 futsal team lost 4-1 to their Spanish counterparts, in the first of two preparation games for the qualifying phase for the European Championship in the category.
However, the Portuguese team was the first to score, at three, by Lúcio Rocha, with a strong shot with his right foot, which did not give the Spanish goalkeeper a chance to defend.
This goal had a galvanizing effect on the team, which went through its best phase of the match when adding danger plays for the Spanish second goal, with Furtado and Rúben Teixeira, at 15 and 16 minutes, on the verge of the goal, with the latter sending the ball to the post.
Spain balanced the game and, in the 18th minute, Juan José Moreno re-established the tie, after a set-piece play, and a minute later turned the score around by Nicolas Marrón.
In the second half, the Spaniards reached the third goal early, in the 23rd minute, by Joan Miguel Piris, motivating a reaction from the selection twice, and Lúcio Rocha close to hitting the net.
Spain ended up deciding the balance of the Portuguese team’s training, which had to risk minutes, trying to reach the second, to score again, at 39, closing the final result.
The two teams will face each other again from Wednesday, from 18:00, in the second preparation game that precedes the qualification for the U-19 European Championship, which will take place between 17 and 20 March, and in which Portugal will face the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Greece, in the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Vila do Conde.
