Naples, ten companies to recover the Palastadera: sports facility closed since 2017
After years of darkness, hope for the is rekindled Palastaderathe large municipal sports facility of Poggioreale, neighborhood in the eastern area of Naples. They are well ten offers presented at Palazzo San Giacomo in response to the expression of interest last December for the custody of the public property in via Stadera 60b.
A race full of obstacles. In January 2020 – just before the Covid wave – the Municipality had launched the first tender that had not seen any participants. A new procedure was launched in December of the same year but this too went deserted. Exactly one year later, in December 2021, the Municipality started the process to choose the companies interested in participating in the subsequent negotiated procedure. Therefore, ten realities can continue in the process. On the plate: the concession of the structure for a period of twenty years, of its management, of the restructuring and redevelopment interventions as well as of the design.
It will be chosen following the criterion of the most economically advantageous offer. The value of the concession is five million and 388 thousand euros. The monthly fee was set at 1,500 euros for the first three years and 1,875 from the fourth onwards. To use the asset, works for an estimated amount of 600 thousand euros are required. These are details that emerge from the acts of the municipal service ‘Technical sports facilities’. The documents highlight that those who will take charge of the Palastadera will also have to deal with promoting sports, motor, recreational and social practices and enhancing the Naples East facility as a place of social gathering “also by promoting complementary activities and events” as well as involving “The voluntary sports association rooted in the territory” of the IV municipality.
The Palastadera, built in the 1980s, consists of several large spaces. A car park in the basement, a 250 square meter gym on the ground floor with changing rooms and various rooms. The first floor gives space to the basketball and volleyball court, the one hundred spectator stand and a second smaller field. There is also a terrace useful for other disciplines. The entire municipal structure needs restyling and safety measures.
The plant in via Stadera has been closed since 2017 after being entrusted for years to the company Coni Servizi and to various sports realities. On several occasions, residents have asked local institutions to work to restore the sports temple in the neighborhood. Between bureaucratic steps and timing for the works, the plant could be back in use within a couple of years.
