‘Ghost over Banksy’, light animates the ‘Migrant Child’ in Venice – Veneto
(by Marzia Apice) (ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 09 – To animate a work that has already made people talk about itself for its cry in favor of the last of the Earth and to make it other than itself, transforming it into an even more powerful experience, to live and relive, able to amplify its humanitarian: it is the “Ghost over Banksy” project, the first Digital Street Art concept ever created through the Pepper’s Ghost collective will illuminate and animate the iconic Migrant Child stencil created by Banksy in Venice in 2019 on the facade of a building. The collective, founded by Anderson Tegon, will launch the project on March 9 (6 pm) in video on its social channels (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, Youtube and Vimeo) in partnership with the art page The Pink Lemonade: for the public the opportunity to enjoy a unique sensory experience, through a sophisticated animation of the work made possible thanks to a powerful 35,000 Ansi lumen laser projector made available by Sharp Nec, which promotes the union of art and technology.
The scene of Banksy’s work imprinted on the Venetian wall will be transformed into an action between magic, color, reality and light, mixing artistic languages starting from the one used by the mysterious author. “Today Bansky’s Migrant is more and more current: people anchor for borders, we search while on Earth we still struggle with hunger. The international situation we are experiencing now makes us understand what really matters”, Anderson tells ANSA. Tegon, creator of the project and founder and art director of Pepper’s Ghost. “When I saw the Migrant Child in Venice I thought it was nice that that work could come to life. Bansky was born from a secret, and the work knows it.
But every work of art does not give answers, it asks questions. We and Bansky work in the same way: he uses street art like no one has ever done, that is, telling a story, and we do the same with digital. “
To create his Migrant Child Banksy followed the rules of street art, acting by surprise, at night, stealthily and away from prying eyes. By its very nature, however, Digital Street Art operates in a different way, animating and not contaminating the artifacts on which it acts, without affecting the places but touching the perception of people and their imagination. A sort of challenge to Banksy by Pepper’s Ghost, through the creation of a new artistic current. “Ghost over Banksy” will also give life to the first NFT (non-fungible token) of Digital Street Art collectible, authenticated and published on the blockchain, thanks to the partnership with the Reasoned Art gallery.
