Finland and Estonia are discussing the promotion of co-operation in the transport sector

The co-operation has been agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Finland and Estonia signed on 26 April 2021, the purpose of which is to promote co-operation in the transport sector and the exchange of information between the two countries. transport projects.
The discussion was led by Sabina LindströmDirector-General of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Ahti King, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. The meeting discussed current transport projects between Finland and Estonia and between Helsinki and Tallinn, Finland’s 12-year national transport system plan, the Estonian traffic and mobility plan and the situation of the Rail Baltica project. The views of the countries on the EU’s proposal for a TEN-T regulation and the continuation of cooperation between countries and cities were also discussed. The status of the fixed link (tunnel) between Estonia and Finland was also discussed in the light of national transport plans, regulations and land use decisions.

In the future, current issues in the transport sector will be discussed regularly with the City of Helsinki, the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and the City of Tallinn. The next meeting will be held in Estonia.
