Tanzania, Sweden promises to strengthen cooperation for the preservation of the environment
Tanzania and Sweden promised on Monday to improve their bilateral cooperation to preserve the environment, said a statement from the Vice President’s Office.
The statement from Chamwino State House in the capital Dodoma said that the promise was made during official talks between Tanzania’s Vice President Philip Mpango and the Swedish Ambassador to Tanzania, Anders Sjöberg.
“Cooperation between nations is crucial to meet the challenges that the environment faces,” says Sjöberg.
According to the statement, the Swedish envoy said that Tanzania and Sweden have worked together in the implementation of development projects aimed at preserving the environment, including the development of alternative energy in collaboration with the National Environment Council (NEMC).
Sjöberg praised Tanzania for its recently launched a national tree planting campaign that aims to make the country with almost 60 million people greener.
For his part, Mpango said that the government has prioritized the preservation of the environment with regard to the fact that a degraded environment was harmful to humanity. Enditem
