Portugal has invested 677.1ME in the UK in the last three years
Portugal has invested around 677.1 million euros in the last three years in the United Kingdom, while London has a global investment in Lisbon of 1.5 billion euros, according to the Department for International Trade (DIT).
This department is for promoting the international expansion of British and foreign investments to the UK.
With regard to Portuguese investment in the United Kingdom, “the last three years the DIT recorded a total investment, resulting in the establishment of companies, acquisitions or participation in companies and expansion of existing investments, in a total of 677.1 million euros (565.2 million pounds)”.

“In this edition, 23 British companies operating in Portugal will also be distinguished, which are part of a large group of companies maintained by the DIT in Lisbon in recent years”, says the entity.
These “are together an estimated volume of around 752 million euros (627.6 million pounds) in exports of products and services in the most diverse sectors and a global investment in Portugal of 1.5 million euros (1.3 billion pounds)”.
After an interruption, due to the pandemic, “the Department for International Trade in Portugal is now rehabilitating this important initiative, commemorating and recognizing the effort of Portuguese companies that invested in the United Kingdom and the success of British companies in Portugal, over the last few years ” , see the DIT.
Of the total Portuguese investment projects in the United Kingdom in the last 30 years, “about 30 years benefited from the support services of the DIT team at the embassy and in the United Kingdom, and from which Sogrape will be distinguished in 2019 with the ‘Investment Expansion’ Award’ and Mindprober, which will be awarded the ‘International Expansion Award'”.
For 2020, “Tekever will be awarded the ‘Investment Expansion Award’, iLoF the ‘International Expansion Award’, FairJourney Biologics the ‘Investment Award’ and Tuki the ‘Global Entrepreneur Award’ for their participation in the ‘ Global Entrepreneur Programme’ from DIT”, he adds.
With regard to 2021, “EDP will also be awarded the ‘Investment Expansion Award’, Greenvolt the ‘Investment Award’ and Bring Global and Didimo, both with the ‘International Expansion Award’.
Technological Critical Software received the ‘Significant Investor Award’ “in recognizing not only its expansion in 2019 and 2020, but also its growth and consolidation path as a “player” in the British market over the last 15 years”.
On the British companies side, “Arrow Global Portugal, Babcock, Bonhams, Ebury, EthOss Regeneration, Leonardo, Paysafe Group, Revolut, Round Hill Capital and Savills will be awarded in the Business Development category” .
AstraZeneca Portugal, a Frontier IP Group – AquaInSilico and GSK Portugal will be awarded in the Innovation and Business Development category.
In direct investment in Portugal, Aethel Partners, Arrow Global Portugal, Inspired Education, Finastra, Glennmont Partners, NextEnergy Capital and Pioneer Point Partners LLP “will receive the Overseas Direct Investment award”, with BJSS, Eleven , Fieldwork Robotics and Hensoldt UK to receive the ‘New to Market’ award.
The invitations ceremony will be attended by the Commissioner for Trade in Europe, Chris Barton, who will deliver the awards on behalf of the British Government together with the British award in Portugal, Christopher Sainty.
