OKQ8, Skellefteå Kraft expands its electric car strategy throughout Sweden
The companies have opened two super-fast chargers in Huskvarna as part of an ambitious plan to develop a network of 800 charging stations by 2026.
OKQ8 and Skellefteå Kraft opened two super-fast chargers for electric vehicles, each with two charging points, in Huskvarna, Sweden, as part of their plans to expand the electric car charging network across the country. The goal is to have Sweden’s largest network with 800 charging stations by 2026, distributed over 300 OKQ8 stations.
“We are proud to, together with Skellefteå Kraft, open two more super-fast chargers in our nationwide charging network in Sweden. We are convinced that simpler and faster charging will increase many people’s willingness to switch to an electric car, an important part of the transition to climate-neutral mobility, says Karin Hellgren, communications manager at OKQ8.
When the two superchargers, out of a total of four charging stations, open on OKQ8 at Vårstarondellen, payment will be possible seamlessly both with a regular bank card, charging card from OKQ8 and with the app OKQ8 Elbilsladdning. Regardless of the form of payment, there is no extra cost for the customer.
“Transport plays an important role in the transition to a sustainable society and therefore we are investing heavily in the expansion of super-fast chargers at the OKQ8 stations. It feels great that we are now putting two more chargers into operation so that together we make it easy for consumers to make a better choice, says Sanna Lundström, acting business area manager at Skellefteå Kraft.
Four OKQ8 stations have already received super-fast chargers for electric cars. Örebro was first, closely followed by Kungsbacka, Trelleborg and Upplands Väsby, and now Huskvarna. The last is a strategically important place for electric car drivers on the road between Stockholm and Gothenburg.
At the end of 2022, both companies aim to expand the network to include around 50 stations throughout Sweden.
