two new elected members but no change of co-chairmanship
The Off d’Avignon festival does not change president for the moment. Just four months before the opening of the festival on July 7, an extraordinary general assembly was organized on Monday March 7 to replace the outgoing president and the treasurer. The election of Sébastien Benedetto and Alexia Vidal had been canceled by the courts in early February. Two new elected officials replace them but it will be necessary to wait 15 days to know if the president changes.
No change in the presidency
The two new ones are Agnès Chamak, from the Brunes theaterand Jean-Paul Bazin, artist producer. Agnès Chamak of the Théâtre des Brunes was elected with 38 votes, 37 for the other candidate Salvatore Caltabiano of the Atelier Florentin. In the other college, that of the companies, it is the musician Jean-Paul Bazin who is elected with 68 votes against Pierre Boiteux and Philippe Josserand.
The vote took place on the internet after a videoconference and above all weeks of controversy, bitterness and legal war to finally oust Sébastien Benedetto and Alexia Vidal. Both do not feel, but Festival d’Avignon et Compagnie is not without a president. The statutes had been modified in November to allow a co-presidency, that of Alain Coffino Gomez of the Théâtre des doms and Véronique Boutonnet of the Compagnie les Ames Libres.
The duo has been in place since the cancellation of the election of the previous president. This is the first time that there is a co-presidency of Off in Avignon. And the first time there is a female co-chair. For the moment, nothing changes: the co-presidency does not move until Board of Directors on March 22.
