To Geneva and Munich: return flights from Aeroflot fielden
Despite the flight ban, the national airline of Russia wanted to fly to Germany and Switzerland. Nothing came of Aeroflot’s plans.
In fact, no aircraft from Russian airlines is welcome in European airspace anymore. The sky of the countries is blocked for Aeroflot, S7 and Co. Nevertheless, the Russian national airline had hoped to obtain exceptions.
Aeroflot actually intended to carry out return flights for citizens stranded in the EU. On Sunday (March 6) they wanted to fly Russians back to Moscow from Geneva on flight number SU7031. And under SU7323 she is planning a flight from Munich to Moscow. Paris and Amsterdam were also on the list. But the plans have evaporated.
No Europe flights
As could be seen from the flight tracking services, there were no flights to Western Europe. Only isolated flights to Turkey, Egypt, Israel and Azerbaijan could be seen on Sunday.
It was already clear on Saturday that Aeroflot would almost cease its international air traffic on Monday (March 8). Only flights to Belarus continue to operate. The airlines S7 and Smartavia had previously suspended all international flights.
Fear of seizure?
Russian airlines can no longer fly to many destinations abroad anyway because the airspace in the EU, the USA and Canada is blocked for them. The step is also likely to be related to the fact that there is a risk abroad that Aeroflot planes will be impounded.
The sanctions in force against Russia also ban aircraft leasing to the country’s airlines. The aviation authority Rosaviatsiya had previously recommended that all airlines in the country not fly abroad with all aircraft models due to the risk of leased jets being impounded.
