Tara Vovk from Northwestern broke the Slovenian record in the 50 breaststroke at Westmont PSS
2022 PRO SWIM SERIES – WESTMONT
Northwestern seniors Tara Vovk this weekend he competed in the Westmont Pro Swim Series, where he raced the LCM 100 breasts and tested 50 breasts on the chronometer. In the 50 breaststroke, Vovk achieved 31.12, setting a new personal record and a Slovenian national record. Her performance was also marked by the FINA ‘A’ cross section at the event.
Swimming exceeded the previous Slovenian record of 31.43, which he owned Tjaša Vozel from the Dutch Championship 2015. Vozel is also the owner of the Slovenian record in the LCM 100 and 200 breasts.
Vozelova has a record for 100 breasts with 1: 07.90, the time she announced in 2020. Vovk is also approaching this record, as he broke the personal record of 1: 08.94 in the Pro Swim Series preliminaries.
Vovk is currently preparing for the NCAA DI Women’s Championships, where she is the 10th seed in the 100 breaststroke. She will also compete in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke for the Wildcats. She had a season to remember. Vovk broke 1:00 per 100 breaststroke for the first time at the 2019 Big Ten Championships, then no longer swam below 1:00 until 2021 Purdue Invite, November of this season.
She swam 59.99 in the preliminaries at Purdue Invite and then set a personal best of 59.36 in the finals. Vovk then went to Big Tens a few weeks ago and posted a time of 58.80 and 58.52.
