New university course to appeal to “non-Catholics”.
With a new course wants to die Catholic Theological Faculty at the University of Salzburg In the future, we will increasingly address students who are not Catholic. The bachelor’s course “Christian Culture, Transformation & Communication” will start next autumn, as the Salzburg regional edition of the “Crown Newspaper” reported on Sunday. “There is a process of change in the churches, and we are reacting to this,” said the Dean of the Faculty, Michael Zichy, describing the efforts to open up the Faculty.
“Even non-Catholics can study with us,” says Zichy. The combination would cover the need for not only theological knowledge. In addition to this, the course provides basic knowledge in communication and management – for students of different denominations. The aim of the interdisciplinary course is not just to reach Catholics.
The church and its organizations are desperately looking for experts and the thematic field is wide. The faculty is responding to this demand and offering a “broad horizon” of studies, according to Zichy, who has held the dean’s post at the Faculty of Catholic Theology since October 2021. “If someone studies with us, then they will definitely get a job afterwards,” advertised Zichy. The newly created subject is intended to be a building block to attract even more students to the faculty.
