Chabot celebrates debut for 1. FC Köln, first win for Compper with Lok Moscow
After each match day, we write here about players and coaches who used to play a role at RB Leipzig and have since found a job at other clubs. We do not rely on completeness, but mention the ex-actors depending on their importance or story.
Julian Chabot (1. FC Cologne) and Ermedin Demirovic (SC Freiburg)
Julian Chabot (24), once on the ball in the U17s and U19s for RBL and most recently in Serie A, made his league debut at 1. FC Köln. The new winter signing was in the 1-0 draw against Hoffenheim in the starting XI and was only substituted after 89 minutes. Should Chabot assert himself permanently in the German upper house, he would only be the second homegrown RB player to succeed after Ermedin Demirovic (23) from SC Freiburg.
The SC striker scored his second goal of the season for the Breisgau team in a 1-1 draw against RBL at the weekend. Last season things went even better for the native of Hamburg, when he celebrated an excellent debut season in the Bundesliga with 15 goals.
Marvin Compper (Moscow Locomotive)
Ex-RB defender Marvin Compper was happy about his first win. The new Lok Moscow coach beat FK Khimki 3-2 in the league three days after their cup knockout against Krasnoyarsk (0-4). The 36-year-old, who was previously a match analyst at Lokomotiv, initially took over the position from Markus Gisdol on an interim basis. Gisdol had resigned from his position in protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Ralf Rangnick (Manchester United), Jesse Marsch (Leeds United) and Ralph Hasenhuttl (FC Southampton)
The Premier League has now developed into a veritable playground for former RB coaches. However, the trio in the English upper house at the weekend is completely empty. Rangnick lost the Manchester derby 4-1 to City, Marsch lost his debut 1-0 to Leicester, where Ademola Lookman came on after 61 minutes. Hasenhüttl conceded a rough bankruptcy in the 0: 4 against Aston Villa.
Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita (Liverpool)
Things went better for the ex-RBL duo with the Reds. With a 1-0 win over West Ham, the Klopp team kept the pressure on leaders Man City. Konaté and Keita were both in the starting XI and each showed a convincing performance.
