VIDEO. “Caen with Orelsan sauce”: this tourist guide introduces you to the key places of the rapper’s city
“I’m the best known in my city with William the Conqueror”, raps Orelsan in the song “Casseurs Flowters Infinity” which appears on his new album “Civilization”. Romain Desclos decided to take him at his word. For the past few weeks, the tourist guide has been offering guided tours of Caen “à la sauce Orelsan”. The rapper, who offered himself a triplet at the last Victoires de la Musique, a grandiose one in the port city of 106,000 inhabitants and left his mark there.
From the Hôtel des Quatrans, where Orelsan was the night watchman, to the “Magic Beau Gosse” kebab, passing by the huge mural fresco bearing the image of the star, Romain Desclos immerses visitors in childhood and the beginning of the singer’s career, but also tells the story of Caen. A way for him to show the city in a new light and attract a younger audience.
“If I hadn’t created this visit, I would never have taken tourists to the Henri Brunet College, where Orelsan’s father worked. It has, at first sight, no historical interest. But, if we dig a little deeper, it allows us to evoke the bombardments of Caen. And that, Orelsan evokes in his songs, ”explains Romain Desclos.
