Venice in art on display in Novara – Vigevano24.it
The exhibition, dedicated to the 1600th anniversary of Venice, opens with a great artist of Italian Romanticism, Francesco Hayez, who could only tell the history of time by allusions, if not through allegory.
The majestic painting “Prete Orlando da Parma sent by Arrigo IV of Germany and defended by Gregory VII against the just outrage of the Roman Synod”, painted in 1857, opens to the visitor’s eyes, underlining the difficulties encountered by the supporters of the unification of Italy in cause of Pope Pius IX. The composition is very accurate and full of quotes from the great Italian Renaissance tradition.
The artistic development of the exhibition unfolds on the upper floor, with 8 areas dedicated to the various evolutions of nineteenth-century Venetian romanticism.
The first, entitled: “I maestri d’accademia nel di Hayez”, includes among the noteworthy works a Francesco Hayez who, with the painting “Valenzia Gradenigo in front of the inquisitors” made between 1843 and 1845, wants to represent a different vision of the city of Venice, through a more romantic dimension that combines history, invention and interprets the myth of a Venice of intrigue.
The theme of the second area “From the view of the landscape,” catapults the visitor into the heart of Venice, through the painting “La Piazza San Marco in Venice” by Carlo Ferrari made in 1852.[artistaciregalaun’inquadraturarallegratadaunalucedoratadiunadellepiazzepiùvisitatealmondoealsuointernoinserirelasinistradellatelaunautoritrattodifamiglia[artistaciregalaun’inquadraturarallegratadaunalucedoratadiunadellepiazzepiùvisitatealmondoealsuointernoinserisceversolasinistradellatelaunautoritrattodifamiglia[artistaciregalaun’inquadraturarallegratadaunalucedoratadiunadellepiazzepiùvisitatealmondoealsuointernoinserirelasinistradellatelaunautoritrattodifamiglia[artistaciregalaun’inquadraturarallegratadaunalucedoratadiunadellepiazzepiùvisitatealmondoealsuointernoinserisceversolasinistradellatelaunautoritrattodifamiglia
The third area presents to the visitor “The poetry of the Lagoon” through the painter Guglielmo Ciardi. Worthy of note, the canvas entitled “View of the Venetian Lagoon” created in 1880. This work is characterized by a dense painting, at times material and cursive, as can be guessed in the details of the sails and in the reflections of the same on the water. The painting is extremely bright and the reflections, first orange then blue, summarize the chromatic texture of the scene.
The fourth section concerns “The painting of truth: the family universe”, of this area I place my attention on the painting by Angelo Dell’oca Bianca “Walk on the New Bridge” of 1893. In this work, a woman with two girls in a moment of leisure, behind them and sees the river Adige and Verona in the distance with the bell tower of the Basilica of Sant’Anastasia.
Area number 5 exhibits “The painting of truth: work and daily life”, here the visitor’s gaze is immediately attracted to the 1888 painting “Lavandaie sul Garda” by Ettore Tito. This painting was defined by the critic Pompeo Molmenti : “One of the most beautiful works of Tito. On the stony bank stand the laundresses intent on their work”.
Entirely dedicated to love, the exhibition area n.6 entitled “The painting of truth:” Love idyll “, here the eye of the observer lingers curiously on a painting that portrays a very special intimate scene” The wife of a jealous painter ” by Giacomo Favretto del In this work the theme of the painter flirting with his model becomes a painting within a painting, whose truth is affirmed by the light that connects the different levels.
Area 7, entitled “Refugium Peccatorum: Luigi Nono and popular devotion” focuses on the spiritual and religious theme. Here stands the “Refugium Peccatorum” by Luigi Nono from 1881. In this painting you can admire the marble balustrade in Chioggia on the bank of a canal which was the backdrop for countless artistic subjects by painters from all over the world. At the center of the scene a commoner slumped on the pavement.
This concludes a fabulous journey into art, the eighth and last area which is centered on “The time of the Biennials”. In this pavilion it is impossible to resist the imposing work by Guglielmo Ciardi “Il Bucintoro” from 1903. This boat was the state galley of the Doges of Venice, on which they embarked every year on Ascension Day to celebrate the Venetian rite of marriage. with the sea. On the occasion of the Festa della Sensa, the Doge, the representatives of the patriciate and of the ecclesiastical hierarchies, departed from the pier of San Marco and arrived on board the Bucintoro up to the mouth of the port of San Nicolò al Lido where the “wedding” took place during which the Doge pronounces the formula: “desposamus te, mare nostrum, in signum perpetuique dominii” and dropped a consecrated ring and holy water into the sea.
Those who want to visit this exhibition route are reminded that the exhibition is open until April 18, Easter Monday.
