Neurodevelopmental disorders are characterized by a disturbance in the cognitive and/or emotional development of the child which leads to a significant maintenance of adaptive functioning at school, social and family level.
These disorders are multiple, including autism spectrum disorders, mental retardation, attention disorders but also language acquisition or coordination disorders. Much research in humans and animals has highlighted common causes and risk factors, of genetic or environmental origin.
This work also contributes to the search for new avenues of prevention or early remediation of these disorders.
Talk with Jacques-Olivier Coq, research fellow at the CNRS, Institute of Movement Sciences, UMR7287 CNRS/Aix-Marseille University.
