Sweden participates in the exercise Joint Expeditionary Force
SWEDEN, March 4 – Sweden participates in a joint exercise within the framework of the Joint Expeditionary Force’s defense cooperation that started on Friday. Minister of Defense Peter Hultqvist was present in Denmark for the start of the exercise, which takes place against the background of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Europe.
Russia’s armed attack on Ukraine is an attack on each country’s right to decide its own future. It is a threat to international peace and security. The Swedish government’s response is focused on three areas: sanctions against Russia, support for Ukraine and strengthening Sweden , says Hultqvist.
Participation in joint military exercises with other countries is an important part of the work to strengthen Sweden and Swedish defense capability, with the current exercise Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) as an example.
“When I last met the defense ministers from the other JEF countries, we found that the threats to the European security regime that we see are unacceptable. We decided to carry out several joint JEF exercises in the coming months, in the light of the development of the security situation,” he said. Hultqvist.
During his visit to Denmark for the start of the JEF exercise, Hultqvist participated in a working lunch with his counterparts from the other nine JEF countries.
