Ice hockey – DEL: Munich celebrates the fifth victory in a row
Cologne (SID) – Red Bull Munich has celebrated its fifth win in a row in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and consolidated its place in the top group. Coach Don Jackson’s team came to a difficult 1-0 (0-0, 1-0, 0-0) against Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven and remains fourth in the table.
Directly behind them are the Straubing Tigers, who surprisingly won 4-0 (1-0, 1-0, 2-0) at the Grizzlys Wolfsburg. Despite their first sixth home defeat, Lower Saxony remain second behind Eisbären Berlin in the 23rd game.
The Düsseldorfer EG won 3:2 (1:1, 0:1, 1:0, 1:0) after extra time against the Iserlohn Roosters and celebrated their first win after the last three defeats. Marco Nowak made it after just 14 seconds in overtime from the winning goal. As Neuter, Düsseldorf still has to worry about participating in the pre-play-offs.
Munich celebrates Frank Mauer’s only goal of the evening (34′). Straubing could rely on Andreas Eder, who threw up twice traffic (15th, 27th) and Ryan St. Denis (41st) to make it 3-0.
Due to numerous corona infections, three games could not take place on Friday. The games affected were the Augsburg Panthers against Adler Mannheim, Nürnberg Ice Tigers against Berlin and ERC Ingolstadt against Bietigheim Steelers.
