Bayern Munich: Surprise before the top game: Manuel Neuer trains with the team! – Bundesliga
Surprise in FC Bayern’s final training session!
One day before the top game against Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 3.30 p.m. / Sky and live ticker at BILD.de), Manuel Neuer (35) sprinted out of the dressing room at 10.56 a.m. in the direction of the secret place on Säbener Straße. Seven minutes later there was applause in the team circle behind the opaque tarpaulin.
Neuer back in team training!
Only 26 days after his median meniscus surgery in his right knee (with specialist Prof. Dr. Christian Fink in Innsbruck), the captain was back with his colleagues. The goalkeeper needed less than a month for his rehabilitation – a break of four to six weeks was planned after the operation. So far done new individual goalkeeper training and build-up units for his fitness (BILD reported daily). The rehab went perfectly.
Now back to the team – he did the entire 40-minute session and then took part in goal-shooting practice (20 minutes).
Can Neuer also play against Leverkusen right away?
Trainer Julian Nagelsmann (34) on Friday after returning to training: “Manu did more today for the first time – also in team training. He only has a little reaction left when he gets up from really deep positions. It looked very good today, he moved very well. We are extremely good in the time window. But it’s not an option for tomorrow! With just one workout, that would be a bit naïve. We’re trying to get him to play as early as possible because we’d like to have him back. We’ll have to see how sensible that is against Salzburg – that’s a small goal where it might work out.”
On Tuesday (9 p.m./live on Amazon Prime Video) the superstar could also make his comeback in the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League against Salzburg (first leg 1-1)!
Nagelsmann is currently only missing three stars in his training: Alphonso Davies (21/myocarditis), Leon Goretzka (27/45 minutes of training with the ball because of patellar tendon problems since December 4, 2021) and Corentin Tolisso (27/half hour of running training after a torn muscle fiber in the left thigh).
There was also good news from Marcel Sabitzer (27/cold). After a day off, he was back with the team on Friday!
Also in training before the league cracker against Leverkusen: Niklas Süle (26/back), Bouna Sarr (30/patellar tendon), Marc Roca (25/paused on Wednesday) and Robert Lewandowski (33/was absent on Wednesday due to a bereavement in the Family).
