He jumps left and right, up and down again. He dives and flies. Neuer has been back in goalkeeper training since the beginning of the week after suffering a meniscus operation in his right knee in Salzburg on February 6th.
The downtime originally estimated at six weeks will therefore be reduced if this extremely positive course continues without complications. In the Bundesliga top game against Bayer Leverkusen this Saturday (3.30 p.m., LIVE! on kicker), Neuer will not yet guard the Munich goal, but he will for the round of 16 second leg against RB Salzburg in the Champions League next Tuesday (9 p.m., first leg: 1:1) indicates the comeback of the captain and keeper.
Goretzka takes up football-specific work
Leon Goretzka is also making great progress in his rehabilitation. The midfielder, who has been off duty since the beginning of December, has now started his football-related work, his knee no longer reacts and the irritation of the patella tendon is gone. Because of the three-month break, Goretzka first has to build up his physique in a targeted manner, and a possible return to play seems possible after the international break at the beginning of April.
Alphonso Davies, meanwhile, continues to condemn his myocarditis to complete inactivity, while Corentin Tolisso is at least able to walk easily after tearing a calf muscle. Niklas Süle and Bouna Sarr, who have not been able to train in the past few days, will return to team training on a Thursday.
