Seafood Norway launches organized fundraising for Ukraine – asks everyone who can contribute
The need for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine is unbelievably great, the organization writes on its website and points out that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is hitting the civilian population hard.
– Seafood Norway’s members have asked us to take the initiative for an organized humanitarian relief effort for the Ukrainian people. This happens after individual companies in the industry have already become involved, says chairman of the board of Seafood Norway, Paul Birger Torgnes, in a message on the organization’s website on Tuesday afternoon.
There he points out that several in the Norwegian seafood industry have a close and long-standing collaboration with Ukrainian customers, and expresses a desire to lend a hand to the Ukrainian people.
Sjømat Norge states that they have therefore established a collaboration with the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, of which Sjømat Norge has membership. Through the Chamber of Commerce, humanitarian measures on the ground in Ukraine will be disseminated and supported.
– The law firm Wikborg Rein has prepared legal guidelines for the initiative, to ensure that the funds raised are used in accordance with the purpose. There will be full transparency about funds raised and the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce does not charge a commission for its participation, it appears from the report, which ends with the necessary humanitarian efforts in Ukraine is unbelievably large.
