With eight victories for only one defeat, Stephane Ouaiche is the most successful player in the Caen including tax this season. Far, very far, from the record he recorded last season (seven wins, eight losses). The Parisian got closer to his best level, the one that allowed him to be champion of France in 2014 and 2016. “I even beat guys I had never beaten”, he specifies.
The trust is there
For Stéphane Ouaiche, all the conditions for performance are met. Starting with trust. “I feel pretty good, I don’t have any particular injuries either, there’s a good atmosphere in the team… Sometimes, a match isn’t played very well. There are two beautiful ones that turned in my favor. It’s cool. “While he remained on two complicated seasons in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, after an operation in 2017, Stéphane Ouaiche started again with Caen.
Performances to put into perspective
Impossible however to see only a personal dynamic in the performances of the table tennis player. Stéphane Ouaiche benefits from the particular configuration of the championship. Contrary to what one might think from the raw reading of the results, it is number 3 in Caen TTC. This means that he basically plays against the number 3s of the other teams. What relativize (a little) its success.
I often play in number 3, so against opponents a little weaker than when I play in 1 or 2. I also came across players against whom I have time to set up my game, that also helps.
“No reason to leave”
Stéphane Ouaiche will be Caen TTC’s new player next season, like his friend Antoine Hachard and Wang Yang. “I had no reason to leave,” he says. In Normandy, the one nicknamed Ouaichou hopes to conquer a title of champion of France. With a game in advance, Caen is the provisional leader. Everything will be played against Angers and La Romagna, he believes. They are the two best teams in the championship with us. This is reflected on the ranking. Resumption of hostilities in April!
