Beate Elvira Lamprecht plays the midwifery course
Beate Elvira Lamprecht has been the new head of the midwifery bachelor’s degree at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences since February.
Salzburg/Puch – After various positions as a midwife in the hospital and as a freelancer, a pedagogy degree and further training in the field of care management, Beate Elvira Lamprecht took over the management of the bachelor’s degree in midwifery at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences in February 2022. In the coming years, Lamprecht would like to work in particular to extend internship periods, new teaching and learning methods and interprofessional cooperation.
Born in Carinthia, she completed her midwifery training in 1990 at the federal midwifery college in Klagenfurt. Since graduating, she has worked as a self-employed midwife and always worked at the same time at the Klagenfurt Clinic, from the midwife to the nursing department head. In 1998 he completed his master’s degree in pedagogy at the University of Klagenfurt. In the course of her professional career, she completed the training as a rescue and emergency paramedic, the further training course as an academic health and care manager at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (2016), the international training as a breastfeeding and lactation consultant, as well as various further training courses in the field of nursing and quality management. Many years of experience in the training and further education of midwives and other medical staff as well as teaching and research activities complete the profile of the new course director. Personally, a foreign assignment as a midwife for the International Red Cross in a field hospital in the world’s largest refugee camp in Bangladesh in 2018 was a formative experience.
“Midwifery knowledge must be secured and midwives must be able to check their knowledge. Science can support midwives in their responsible role and strengthen their professional image. Midwifery is a profession with a long tradition – but also one with a great future,” says Beate Elvira Lamprecht, emphasizing the role of academic training.
Beate Elvira Lamprecht takes over the position from the long-standing course director Margit Felber, who retired in summer 2021. Eva-Maria Schwaighofer – head of the master’s course “Salutophysiology for Midwives” – headed the course on an interim basis until the beginning of 2022.
